History of the Gun - Exclusive 13 Week Series
Sgt. Sammy L. Davis
Congressional Medal of Honor Recipient
Meet the real Forrest Gump.
Most everyone in the world is familiar with the epic American movie Forrest Gump.   This Robert Zemeckis film, starring Tom Hanks, Gary Sinise and Sally Field, depicts several decades in the life of the title character, Forrest Gump, who's life is based on the real life of Congressional Medal of Honor recipient, Sgt. Sammy Davis.   Its a generational film.

For the fall of 2016, History of the Gun will chronicle the life of Sgt. Davis, each week on the show, through an exclusive series of interviews.  America will learn about his life, about filming the movie and about the night he earned the Medal of Honor during a fire-fight on the banks of a Vietnam river.
Award-Winning Producer to Direct History of the Gun

Television host and award-winning producer Bill Rogers, from American Outdoors, has been named as executive producer for History of the Gun

"I'm real excited about this series," says Rogers.   "As the oldest outdoor television show in the country, firearms have always been a big part of American Outdoors but at least 70% of our content has been devoted to backpacking, hiking, camping, fishing and hunting but last year when we received international acclaim for our series on the History of the Sharps Rifle, it confirmed to all of us that we wanted to immerse ourselves in the history and the future of the firearms industry.   Sponsors
immediately responded and our staff did a great job securing us a national and international audience so this is going to be a big home run and an exciting series."
